Professional Football, Basketball, Baseball, Florida University Coaches and Players, and other Nationally known Celebrities team up with A Gift of Hope for medically fragile and cancer children.Orlando, Florida, January 21, 2004 – Bobby Bowden, Ron Zook, and Larry Coker along with other Florida University coaches and players, and other professional and national celebrities are teaming up with A Gift of Hope for medically fragile and cancer children, also known as Kids Beating Cancer. Imagine in one room, at one gala event, more than fifty giants of the athletic world, including legendary stars of the past, as well as active professional and college athletes, and the head football coaches of Florida’s great Universities. This June 5th, 2004, at the beautiful four-star Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center, you can have the opportunity to share an evening with the largest group of professional athletes, Florida university coaches, and other national celebrities, ever gathered in one place for the Sports & Jazz Extravaganza Celebrity Gala to benefit ‘A GIFT OF HOPE for medically fragile & cancer children,’ also known as Kids Beating Cancer. Kids Beating Cancer recently expanded it’s services to include critically and chronically disabled, medically fragile children, in addition to it’s existing services for children with cancer, leukemia and other life-threatening illnesses, under the name A GIFT OF HOPE for medically fragile and cancer children, (A GIFT OF HOPE). A GIFT OF HOPE‘s mission is to increase the quality of life and provide the medical interventions necessary to sustain life for children not covered by insurance, including children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases, and those whose survival depends on finding a compatible marrow or stem cell donor. A GIFT OF HOPE’s services include advanced nursing, rehab therapies, medical equipment and supplies, pharmaceuticals, lab testing necessary to identify marrow donors, and basic necessities. A GIFT OF HOPE steps to in to fund the medical services not covered for the 'forgotten children,' allowing each precious child to receive the best medical care possible, reach their full potential, and enjoy the simple pleasures of 'just being a kid.'
